City readies financial assistance for shooting victims

ILOILO CITY, May 21 - Families of victims of the shooting incident that happened May 11 in Brgy. Tacas, Jaro district here will receive financial assistance from the city government.

Mayor Jed Patrick E. Mabilog said he already instructed the City Social Welfare and Development Office to prepare the needed documents to process the fund.

“This is one way of helping the families cope with the loss of their loved-ones,” he said.

A total of P5,000 will be given each to the families of those who died, while P2,500 for the wounded.

CSWD officer Alfredo Villanueva said they are already preparing the certificate of eligibility, medical death certificate and incident report needed for the financial assistance.

Four persons were killed and four others wounded in a shooting incident during the village’s fund-raising bikini pageant early morning of May 11.

The incident was allegedly due to complaints on the fees charged to the audience..

The fatalities were Tacas barangay captain Rolando Tabuada, PO3 Jerome Jaculina, his cousin Remy Jaculina, and bystander Avelino Sabidales.
