Mayor Jose Espinosa III together with the delegation of Ilonggo business and academic leaders and private sector representatives are set to hold a Trade Mission to New York and Washington DC, USA on June 4-9.

“Encountering new people means meeting new opportunities. Through the trade mission, we can present the sustainable growth and development of our city and we’ll show them the advantages of investing here,” Espinosa said.

“We’ll also promote Ilonggo fashion through a show. I believe that Ilonggo designers must be recognized around the world. The country’s grandest festival, the 2018 Iloilo Dinagyang Festival Champion Tribu  Panayanon will once again showcase the Ilonggo culture as they perform in front of Filipino community. Iloilo City has more to offer so I believe this event will be successful,” he added.

The mission is parallel activity to the 120th Philippine Independence Day Celebration in New York with Dinagyang champ performing in the parade before a global audience.

The trade mission will highlight Iloilo City’s new business initiatives and latest projects; conservation programs to preserve landmarks and heritage sites; investment and working opportunities; and premier academic community.

Ilonggo fashion from the Designers Guild of Iloilo (DGI) and their creations complemented by jewelry from a highly esteemed Ilonggo-owned brand will be showcased in “Ilonggo Fashion and Jewelry Show: Hablon, Weaving, Embroidery and Metalcraft.”

Delegates were invited by Manila-based Philippine Council for Management Research Institute Inc. (PCMRII), which has been tapped as the lead project coordinator by the main US-based hosts, the Asian American Chamber of Commerce (AACC) and the Philippine American Chamber of Commerce (PACC) Washington, D.C. Chapter. (Thessalonia Ordales/Iloilo City PIO)
