FILIPINO COSTUME, FOODS EXHIBIT AT FREEDOM DAY

Iloilo City Government joined Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP) Iloilo Branch during its commemoration of the 120th Philippine Independence Day June 14.

The bank highlighted its “Araw ng Pagpapahalaga ng Kasuotang Pilipino,” a competition among DBP personnel wearing traditional Filipino costume; and Tyangge, a bazar at parking area where native products and foods, fruits and vegetables are exhibited for sale.
Atty. Rodel B. Bustillo, asst. vice president and branch head of DBP Iloilo, said they’ve been practicing the tradition for more than a decade.

“Simple wearing of Filipino costume means that we are one with our country in celebrating our freedom. This is our own way of showing that our culture as Filipinos will never be forgotten,” he added.
