A total of P2,010,600 were given to 1,050 Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) beneficiaries in Iloilo City as part of their April-May cash grant including prior months from the national government.
Mayor Jose Espinosa III led the distribution of cash assistance to 4Ps beneficiaries at Mandurriao Gym Aug. 29.
“I would like to say thank you to President Rodrigo Duterte for this project because this can help our beneficiaries with their education and those who are less fortunate will have something to inspire them to pursue their dreams,” Espinosa said.
Out of total recipients, 271 were from Jaro district; 253 from Molo; 160 from City Proper; 126 from Mandurriao; 124 from Lapuz and La Paz; and 116 from Arevalo.
Elementary pupil beneficiaries received P300 while high school student recipients received P500 and an additional P500 health assistance each per month.
There are a total of 10,985 4Ps beneficiaries in the city. Each family has maximum of three beneficiaries.
“In order for them to get their grant, the beneficiaries have to comply the 85 percent attendance in school, regular check-up in city health stations, and parents have monthly attendance during the Family Development Sessions,” explained Erlyn Garcia, provincial and city link of 4Ps.
Vergie Hugo, 41, of Barangay Dungon B, Jaro, said the 4Ps program was helpful to her family especially that two of her seven children are qualified beneficiaries.
“Although I am working as a helper while my husband is working as a painter, our every day salary is not enough. The cash assistance is very helpful to our children for them to continue their studies” she said. (Merianne Grace Ereñeta/ Iloilo City PIO)
