The Iloilo City Government gave one vehicle and four motorcycles to Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO), respectively, during the flag ceremony June 3.
Mayor Jose Espinosa III turned over the vehicle to PDEA regional Director Alex Tablate and ICPO Director Col. Martin Defensor Jr.
“The City Government is firm in eliminating illegal drugs and criminality. We will always be here to support the PDEA and ICPO in their operations to maintain the peace and order here,” Espinosa said.
Espinosa directed Tablate and Defensor to keep the Ilonggos safe.
“All I want from you is to protect our women, children and all people here against criminality and illegal drugs. To PDEA, immediately eliminate those people or groups who want to spread illegal drugs here because I have made a promise to our President that I will not tolerate illegal drugs in our city,” Espinosa said.
He added that nine patrols will soon be donated to ICPO.
Defensor said the donated motorcycles will be of big help to ICPO during night patrols and other police-related operations.
“These patrol units will be used to counter criminality and riding in tandem cases. It will be used by our policemen during their rounds during night time. Rest assured that with these new patrols, we will do our best to give you good services,” Defensor said.
In September last year, Espinosa turned over two patrol cars to ICPO. (Merianne Grace Ereñeta/Iloilo City PIO)
