ANNOUNCEMENT: DECLARING A DENGUE OUTBREAK IN THE CITY OF ILOILO

“As I am always saying that the health of our Ilonggos is very important. As soon as I knew from our city health officials yesterday that we already reached the threshold point given by the Department of Health, I issued Executive Order No. 023 declaring that Iloilo City is now in dengue outbreak.

This is alarming knowing that we are 416 percent higher than the number of cases last year. We have recorded 91 new cases in just a week from July 6 to July 13. The rapid increase of cases of the mosquito-borne disease calls for necessary and urgent actions that could suffice the medicinal needs and hospitalization amenities required.

We all need to be vigilant and precautious because there is an average of three cases recorded each day. The life of each Ilonggo is important to me so let us all overcome this trial together. As long as we are all united and cooperating to each other, no illness or disaster could bring us down.

Let’s fight against dengue! Let’s fight for our fellow Ilonggos!
