ILOILO CITY REP WINS REG’L CIVIL REG TILT

An employee of Iloilo City Government was declared champion in the Regional Civil Registration Quiz Bee of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Western Visayas in line with the celebration Civil Registration Month in February.

ILOILO CITY QUAKE DRILL SUCCESSFUL #BidaAngHanda

Iloilo City successfully conducted as pilot site the 2019 First Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) held Feb. 21.

This was the assessment of Office of Civil Defense (OCD) Region 6 Director Jose Roberto Nuñez and Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) Director Dr. Renato Solidum.
“It was 100 percent successful because we have seen that all agencies participated especially the City Government, responders, and people of Iloilo City on how to prepare against disaster,” Nuñez said.

AMERICAN CHAMBER EYES OFFICE IN ILOILO CITY

The American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) of the Philippines, Inc. is planning to put their satellite office in Western Visayas here in Iloilo City to help investors doing business for the Philippines and United States of America and to create more jobs for people in the metropolis.

Tribu Ilonganon of Jalandoni Memorial National High School (JMNHS) bagged the grand prize in Dagyang tribes dance competition in this year’s 51st Iloilo Dinagyang Festival Jan. 27.

It bested seven other competing tribes in performances staged in five judging areas around the metropolis.

Tribu Ilonganon received P300,000 and trophy. They were also awarded Best in Choreography with P15,000 prize; and Best Choreographer and Best in Discipline with P10,000 each. GUIMARAS WINS KASADYAHAN FEST 2019

The island-province of Guimaras won as champion in this year’s Fiesta Pilipinas: Kasadyahan Regional Cultural Competition Jan. 26 as one of the highlights of 51st Iloilo Dinagyang Festival.

Hubon Guimarasnon sang Manggahan Festival received P275,000 and trophy after besting nine other groups during performances staged in five judging areas around the metropolis.

BPLD TO ISSUE NOTICE TO BIZ SANS PERMIT

The Iloilo City Business Permits and Licensing Division (BPLD) will start issuing Feb. 1 the notices to businesses that failed to have their permits renewed.

BPLD head Norman Tabud said the first notice will give business owners 10 days to comply with their permits.

“If they still fail to comply, we will issue the second notice wherein they will be asked to explain in writing their reason for non-renewal. For the last notice, they will be summoned by the City Legal Office for a conference wherein we will hear their side before we decide to issue or not to issue a closure order,” Tabud said. ILOILO CITY GOV’T TO HOST DINNER FOR EAS DELEGATES

Iloilo City Government will host the Ministerial Dinner Banquet for the delegates of East Asian Seas (EAS) Congress at Ker and Company Building behind City Hall Nov. 29.

The expected guests include Undersecretary Analiza Rebuelta-Teh of Climate Change Service and Mining Concerns, and Ariel Yuwono, co-chair of the Partnerships in Environmental Management for the Seas of East Asia (PEMSEA).

CITY GOV’T OPENS SIDEWALK FOR VENDORS

The Iloilo City Government has officially opened the sidewalks for vendors who are selling Christmas goods from Dec 1 until end of the year.

Mayor Jose Espinosa III, along with Public Safety and Management Office (PSTMO) head Jeck Conlu, and other officials of the City Government formally launched the open sidewalk program over the weekend.

EAT MODERATELY THIS CHRISTMAS

The Iloilo City Health Office (CHO) has advised the public to eat moderately during Christmas parties.

“Eating your favorite food is not prohibited, like if you want to eat lechon, but you should eat moderately,” City Health Officer Dr. Bernard Caspe said.
