ILOILO CITY’S OSYS EYED FOR TRAININGS, EMPLOYMENT

A non-profit organization is eyeing to partner with Iloilo City Government to provide trainings and employment opportunities for Out-of-School Youth (OSY) in the metropolis.

The Philippine Business for Education (PBed) targeted to launch in Iloilo City on second quarter of 2019 the YouthWorks PH, a five-year P1.7-billion workforce development project funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). ACTIONS TAKEN RE: NOV. 5 EARTHQUAKE

As of November 06, 2018 at 1600H, as follows:

 BFP deployed teams to conduct inspection of all hotels, high rise buildings and all government offices in order to check and validate the integrity of the structures. Findings are as follows and concerned organizations were advised to seek the advice of structural engineers:

o Buntatala Elementary School reported to have minor cracks in some buildings.

o Punt Villa Beach Resort validated by BFP has minimal crack on some structure.

IDFI TO BRING BACK DINAGYANG IDENTITY

Iloilo City – The Iloilo Dinagyang Foundation, Inc. (IDFI) vowed to return Dinagyang Festival to its “original form” as it celebrates its 51st year in 2019.

“After 50 years, we are all challenged to make sure that Iloilo Dinagyang Festival remains true to its core as the Ilonggo’s way of thanksgiving thru merry-making,” IDFI president Ramon Cua Locsin said.

The IDFI has organized the 1st Iloilo Dinagyang Rhythm and Vibes Conference for choreographers, musical directors, dancers and tribe managers, among others at Diamond Jubilee Hall, Sept. 26, as they prep for the festival slated in January 2019.


Locsin said the IDFI, Iloilo City Government and San Jose De Placer Parish are united to uphold the values of history and legacy of the festival tradition.

ICAST COVERS 84 SCHOOLS IN ANTI-SMOKING DRIVE

The Iloilo City Anti-Smoking Task Force (ICAST) has conducted anti-smoking awareness campaign to 84 public elementary and high schools, and private schools in the metropolis.

ICAST director Iñigo Garingalao said the initiative is part of the “Kabataang Ilonggo naga Sikway sa Sigarilyo” and “Pag-Ulikid sa Pamantan-on” program of the City Government where students are taught on the ill effects of smoking and related laws and city ordinances.
